WHAT IS A SILKY WIREHAIR?
A silky wirehair is a genetic cross between a longhair and a wirehair. PARENT A must be a wirehair and carry longhair and PARENT B must either be a longhair or carry it. Their coats are generally very soft and fluffy, but with each individual hair having a courseness to it. The great thing about Silky Wire hair is that they are low shedders. Though they’re not considered hypoallergenic, wirehaireds shed minimally and produce the least amount of dander (the stuff that causes those with dog allergies to sneeze). This makes wirehaired dachshunds the best option for dachshund lovers with allergies.
